VINCA
Some stories are about changing the world. VINCA is about the lives the world changes forever.
High in the Apuan Alps, you are a quarry worker taking part in the lizzatura—the dangerous work of hauling enormous blocks of marble down the mountainside. The days are exhausting, the work can kill you, and home always feels just a little too far away.
So you think about what you'll do when you return.
You dream about the people you love. You imagine promises you'll keep and futures you'll build. At night, the workers gather over glasses of wine, trading scraps of gossip from the village below. Through these small moments, you create the people, relationships, hopes, and unfinished business that make a life worth returning to.
For four days, this is VINCA.
Then the fifth day comes.
VINCA is a rules-light, one-shot storytelling RPG set against a real tragedy in the Italian village of Vinca during World War II. Play begins collaboratively, largely without a traditional GM, before undergoing a dramatic shift in both structure and tone as history catches up with the characters you've created.
This is a game about ordinary people, fragile hopes, and the terrible weight of knowing that the people who become statistics were once simply living their lives.
3–5 players + 1 Facilitator • Rules-light • Designed for one-shot play
Content Warning: VINCA deals directly with the 1944 Nazi massacre of civilians in Vinca, Italy, and includes themes of war, death, violence, loss, and genocide. Safety tools are included, but this is intentionally an emotionally difficult game.
